28th October: Family Communion, Baptism and Bible Sunday!

It’s all happening on 28th October.

At the 10.30am Family Communion (all-age) service we’ll be baptising Hannah-May and Emily, and also celebrating Bible Sunday, with the launch of ‘By the skin of its teeth’ a new book by our very own Richard Noble exploring some of the intriguing phrases from the King James Bible that have made it into everyday speech.

Please do come along, ready to support our two baptism candidates and to purchase your copy of Richard’s book, and to enjoy fellowship and worship with God’s family in St Mary’s!

Friends in Deed – AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Friends in Deed – the ‘good neighbour’ scheme – takes place in the Millennium Centre on Wednesday 24th October at 7.30pm. As always there is a guest speaker – this time we are delighted to welcome two visitors from the Red Cross, who will give a presentation about ‘First Aid in the Home’.  There will also be light refreshments afterwards, and everyone is welcome.

Friends in Deed urgently needs more volunteers – especially to act as drivers (taking people who are housebound or who do not have transport) to hospital appointments, and on social visits or shopping trips. Please do call Chris Lawrence, the Friends in Deed co-ordinator, on 07810 006598 if you would like to know more.
