October News from St Mary’s

September has been a very busy month at St Mary’s.  At the beginning of the month we marked the end of the summer with our annual garden party.  Heritage weekend was marked in style – there were tours of the church, a visit from Bishop David to present us with an Engage Award, amateur radio enthusiasts set-up station in the Living Stones Room to take part in Churches on the Air and our walker / cyclists raised £530 in the CHCT Ride, Drive & Stride event.  We launched our Restoration Appeal (at Heritage Weekend) and received our first grant towards the appeal, £1,000 from All Churches Trust. Work started on the first of our restoration projects, the chancel and organ chamber roofs.  And after all that activity we had a wonderful and inspiring Benefice Away-Day / Quiet Day at Little Gidding with Bishop David.

Now, on to October – our October Newsletter includes details of all the events which are going on in October and it can be viewed here newsletter-oct-2016
Our monthly newsletters can always be downloaded from the website “newsletters” page under the “info” tab or they can be emailed to you each month. Opting to receive your newsletter electronically helps us to save on paper and distribution.
For those not on email / internet, we do, of course, still distribute paper copies and there are always copies available to pick up in church.

Our chosen charity for September-October is Church Army.  See our website charities page (under finance) and the charities noticeboard in the church porch for more information during those months.

Church rotas for October – November are published here.
