Our cyclists have returned after….

17 churches some open some not, 2 deaneries, various denominations, 1 bishop presenting an engage award, 1 coffee & cakes, 1 table top sale, 1 worship meeting, 1 train, 1 pub lunch, 1 coffee, 1 gazebo, 1 squash & shortbread, 1 heritage tour, many friendly faces, 1 wedding, 1 group of amateur radio enthusiasts, several rain showers, 1 slipped bike chain, no injuries or failures, and finally 4 very bedraggled cyclists home by 5pm!

Launch of St Mary’s Restoration Appeal

Heritage Weekend seems an appropriate time to launch our restoration appeal.  We are looking to raise around £100,000 in total through grants, donations, fund-raising events and initiatives.
This morning we are being presented with a £100 Engage Award by Bishop David

This weekend is heritage weekend and it’s a busy one at St Mary’s!

9th – 11th September Heritage Open Days https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/
St Mary’s will be OPEN to visitors each day.
There will be free talks on Sunday 11th at 2pm and 3.30pm.

Bishop David will be visiting during coffee & cakes on Saturday 10th to present us with an “Engage Award” for improving access to the public

Churches on The Air”. The World Association of Christian Radio Amateur and Listeners (WACRAL) will have a station set-up in St Mary’s on Saturday 10th and would welcome any interested visitors. http://www.wacral.org/

Two groups from St Mary’s will be taking part in the Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust (CHCT) Ride, Drive and Stride event on Saturday 10thSeptember.  One group is cycling between local churches and starting off from St Mary’s during Coffee & Cakes; the other group will be walking between churches in Cambridge.  All keeping up the tradition that has been so well established and supported at St Mary’s over the years. If you would like to join in and cycle, please see Anne Carter or  walk, please see Ken Gray.  If you unable to join us on the day, then do please consider sponsoring us.  There is a sponsor form at the back of church or you can sponsor us online using the following link    https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Buckden-bikes

This weekend – Harp Concert & Garden Party

Saturday September 3rd 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Buckden
‘HARP VIRTUOSI’.
A fabulous evening presented by two Internationally acclaimed Harpists: Diego Laverde Rochas is from Colombia. The most amazing South American harpist in Europe. He will utterly receive a well earned standing-ovation at your concert so your audience is in for a treat!.  John Dalton  provides the English contrast in a delightful way, and so gives two for the price of one-great-concert!
