After a very busy April in St Mary’s – Holy Week, Easter, our annual meetings and the launch of the *800 and counting* challenge – May brings a chance to stand back and reflect on the events of the last month and on God’s goodness. Confirmation classes have just started and later this month we will be taking part in the Archbishop’s prayer for the nation “Thy Kingdom Come” in the run up to Pentecost.
The first weekend in May we are hosting the annual concert from Stageworks, our local theatre school.
800 and counting……* THE CHALLENGE IS NOW ON! Thank you to everyone involved. If you didn’t make it to the distribution in April, never fear, there is still time to register and to collect your £10. Just contact us in person, or at firstname.lastname@example.org and don’t forget to update us with news and pictures of your plans and events over the coming months. We look forward to hearing all about it and celebrating all your talents on 16/17 September when we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the first priest recorded in Buckden. For more information about the challenge and the celebration, click on *800 and counting*

Christian Aid Week 2017 is the 14th-20th May; there will be no house-to-house collection in Buckden, but envelopes will be available at the back of church if you wish to make a donation. Buckden & District Churches Together is also holding a fund-raising coffee morning on Friday 12th May 10am in the Methodist Hall.
Our chosen Charity for May-June is Godmanchester Food Bank http://godmanchester.foodbank.org.uk/ The Trussell Trust foodbank network works in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK. There are now over 400 foodbanks in the network. St Mary’s have been a collection point for Godmanchester Foodbank for several years. There is a food collection box near the font for our offerings each week and we also pass donations of dried and tinned food from the schoolchildren at harvest festival each year. See the charities page on this website (under finance), the weekly pewsheet and the charities noticeboard at the back of church for more information.
