Thought for the day 15/04/2020

Today’s thought is about remembering.
Remember what life was like before Covid19
Remember when we were able to go and do more or less what we wanted?
I wonder if like me you sometimes struggle to remember that far back!
The Bible talks a lot about remembering.
Remember God’s great love for us poured out at Easter through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Remember his love and care for each of us.
But God also asks us to remember those who we can care for and help – in prayer and in practical ways.
By running errands, by a gift of food – our local Foodbanks need food and there are collection points at St Mary’s Vicarage and in NISA shop.
By a phone call, particularly to those on their own.
Who can I remember today?
Jes

Thought for the day 14/04/2020

How was Easter?
Different, no doubt, but hopefully also a chance to step down a gear and reflect on the Easter story.
Here at All Saints and St Mary’s we held virtual services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day. If you wish, you can view them on our churches’ facebook pages and also on You Tube – type in “St Mary’s Buckden” to access.
The phrase that struck me during these services was this one: ‘Do not be afraid’. That seems particularly apposite this year, with so many affected by Covid 19 and so much of what was ‘normal’ now uncertain.
The great message of Easter is one of hope. The Queen rightly reminded us of this hope in her Easter message as she reflected that ‘we need Easter as much as ever. The discovery of the risen Christ on the first Easter Day gave his followers new hope and fresh purpose, and we can all take heart from this.’
Take care and have a good day.
Jes
