This Sunday, 29th November, is the beginning of Advent, a season of preparation, looking forward to Christmas and the birth of Jesus. At St Mary’s, our stars on the tower will be shining out for all to see. Look out for our outdoor Nativity Scene which will appear in the churchyard during this first week of Advent.

Sunday Services in Church will resume from December 6th and Wednesday Communion from the 9th. Please book for Sunday each week with email@example.com or add your name to the list in the porch.
Saturday 1st December is a day of preparation – during that morning, the Cleaning Crew are in, the Christmas Tree arrives (donated by The Flower Boutique Buckden) with its personalised Memory Baubles, the wreaths arrive for the Wreath Festival and Coffee and Cakes are available. Please come along and help, or just join us for coffee and cake.
Sunday 2nd December is Advent Sunday. At our 11am Service, St Mary’s knitted nativity sets start off on their journey around Buckden. There is no evening service this week but St Mary’s will be open all afternoon with lots going on as part of the Buckden Christmas Market and Lights Switch-on event. Come in and see the Wreath Festival, Christmas Tree, enjoy the Children’s craft workshop, have refreshments, hear the children of Buckden School singing.
This Sunday, 30th November, will be Advent Sunday. This is the day when we light the first Advent Candle and when our knitted nativity sets begin their journey around Buckden which symbolises the journey that Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
Sunday also sees the switching on of the Christmas Lights in the village. St Mary’s will be open during the afternoon as a place of quiet, shelter and refreshment.
Wednesday 3rd December is the St Mary’s Christmas Coffee Morning 10am – 11.30am in the Millard Suite, Buckden Village Hall. Entrance is £2.50 which includes Tea/ Coffee and Mince Pies. Christmas Stall, Cake Stall, Bring & Buy, Raffle. Everybody Welcome.
