This year the beginning of Advent, the beginning of December and the end of Lockdown (2) are all happening within a few days of one another. Our celebration of Advent and Christmas will look a little different this year. We have a variety of services planned both in church and online; making the most of new skills we developed over the past months and working closely with the other churches in and around Buckden.

Sunday Services at 11am in St Mary’s resume from December 6th. Please book for Sunday each week with david.pickavance1@outlook.com or add your name to the list in the porch.

St Mary’s chosen charity for November-December is Brain Tumour Research https://www.braintumourresearch.org/
Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.  Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this.  They are the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours and are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer. Our chosen Charity for May-June is Godmanchester Food Bank
http://godmanchester.foodbank.org.uk/ The Trussell Trust foodbank network works in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK. St Mary’s have been a collection point for Godmanchester Foodbank for several years. There is a food collection box near the font for our offerings each week and we also pass donations of dried and tinned food from the schoolchildren at harvest festival each year. Look out for the display in church and more information in the pewsheets this month.
