Our Churches Together have two important activities in May.
May 10th – 16th is Christian Aid week. The climate crisis hurts us all. But people living in poverty fight the worst of it every day. From drought to flooding, climate change robs people of control over their lives. Extreme weather means people are struggling to survive without a reliable source of water. Your gift could help a community build an earth dam, so when the rains do come, they will have the water they need to live. A reliable source of water will help families withstand long drought or relentless rainstorms. Every envelope. Every gift. Every challenge can change lives.Together we stop this climate crisis.
Donation envelopes are being delivered to all the houses in Buckden and completed donations can be returned to the address stamped on the envelopes, or to any of the churches, or online.
This Sunday, 28th March, is Palm Sunday and we have our first service back in church at 11am. If you want to come along, please book in advance by emailing David.firstname.lastname@example.org. Social distancing measures are still in place, so please comply, and always wear a mask in church.
If you can’t make it to church this week, the service will also be streamed via YouTube on St Mary’s Buckden.
This year the beginning of Advent, the beginning of December and the end of Lockdown (2) are all happening within a few days of one another. Our celebration of Advent and Christmas will look a little different this year. We have a variety of services planned both in church and online; making the most of new skills we developed over the past months and working closely with the other churches in and around Buckden.

St Mary’s chosen charity for November-December is Brain Tumour Researchhttps://www.braintumourresearch.org/ Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. They are the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours and are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer. This Sunday, 29th November, is the beginning of Advent, a season of preparation, looking forward to Christmas and the birth of Jesus. At St Mary’s, our stars on the tower will be shining out for all to see. Look out for our outdoor Nativity Scene which will appear in the churchyard during this first week of Advent.
Our online service for Advent Sunday will be available via YouTube and Facebook – St Mary’s Buckden. Please do join us and watch.
