This Sunday, 29th November, is the beginning of Advent, a season of preparation, looking forward to Christmas and the birth of Jesus. At St Mary’s, our stars on the tower will be shining out for all to see. Look out for our outdoor Nativity Scene which will appear in the churchyard during this first week of Advent.
Our online service for Advent Sunday will be available via YouTube and Facebook – St Mary’s Buckden. Please do join us and watch.

What a fabulous start to December. The church was a hive of activity all weekend long. Thank you to everyone who came on Saturday to help with the cleaning, decorate the Christmas tree, receive and display the wreaths, provide the refreshments.
On Sunday our knitted nativity sets set-off during the morning’s Advent Sunday Service; we were open during the afternoon of the Buckden Christmas Market & Lights to welcome visitors to the Wreath Festival, children to the craft workshops, singers from Buckden School. Thanks to everyone who visited & everyone who helped.
The Wreath Festival continues throughout December, please come and take a look. Don’t forget to sponsor a memory bauble this year – £3 from The Flower Boutique, The Salon on the Green and Buckden Preschool
Our next events involve coffee, the Annual Christmas Coffee Morning at the Village Hall on the 5th and The Community Café in St Mary’s on the 12th. Please come and join us for a cuppa
Our Special Services for Christmas start on Saturday 9th December with Christingle. See below for a full list of Christmas Services. Please come and share in the celebration.
St Mary’s chosen charity for November-December is Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) www.maf-uk.org For 70 years, MAF has been flying for life
In today’s ‘connected world’, the irony is that never have so many people been so isolated. Flying onto desert and jungle airstrips, lakes and rivers, tracks and roads, MAF’s light aircraft and their mission pilots go the extra miles to provide a lifeline. They fly medical, relief and life-transforming help to vulnerable people in hard-to-reach places. They need our prayers and financial support.
