September was such a busy month and one of celebration with Heritage Weekend, an Engage Award for our stars on the tower, our *800* Celebration Weekend and Harvest Festival. As we move into October, renovation work on the building is well under way and much of St Mary’s is covered in scaffolding. We give thanks for everything that we have been able to do and for the very, very many people who have contributed in all sorts of ways.
*800 to 8,000 … and still counting!!*
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came to our Celebration Weekend on 16th / 17th September, to everyone who helped, to everyone who took part in the *800 and counting* challenge and to everyone who supported the many fund-raising events along the way. Our £800 has grown to over £8,000. Watch out for the final total which will be announced very soon. This is a fantastic boost for our Restoration Appeal.

Our chosen Charity for September-October is BLOODWISE www.bloodwise.org.uk , formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma research. It has an aim to create a future without blood cancer, which sadly has specifically touched 3 of our congregation in recent times. In September we were asked to sponsor Gary Wells who was riding in the cycle event, “Across Britain”. Gary successfully completed the challenge, after 9 days, on 17th September. The sponsorship known so far is in excess of £1,000; a remarkable result. Sincere thanks to all who have contributed. Our fund-raising for BLOODWISE continues to the end of October so watch out for the next activity. Thank you for your support.

Restoration Appeal and Major Projects
We continue to pray for success in our grant applications and give thanks for the people who have felt moved to support our beautiful Parish Church. Work on the roof was completed but we are unable to progress any of the other major projects until we have raised substantial funds. Click on the links in the title for more information.
Our chosen Charity for July-August is Ed Isaac
This is very much a local cause. Ed, his wife Emma and their 3 children live in the village. Ed suffered a massive brain haemorrhage and collapsed on his way to work in November 2016. He underwent life-saving surgery and is currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation at a local neurological centre. Ed is currently reliant on a wheelchair and has very limited movement down the left-hand side of his body. Ed returned home to his family in June but their house needs a downstairs wet room and bedroom; and he will need continuing therapy. A group of friends have been raising money locally to help the Isaacs to become a family once again.
See the charities page on this website (under finance), the weekly pewsheet and the charities noticeboard at the back of church for updates during the months.
