Our chosen Charity for May-June is Godmanchester Food Bank

February at St Mary’s Buckden

We are well into the New Year and back to routine.  All groups and activities have restarted and there is lots going on in the church.  Hopefully something for everyone.

Thanks you to everyone who joined us for the Cleaning Crew on Saturday 2nd February, the church is looking lovely.  Please note that there will be no organised Cleaning Crew in March, but do feel free to pop with your duster during that first week.

St Mary’s chosen charity for November-December is for January-February is MAGPAS www.magpas.org.uk    Magpas Air Ambulance brings crucial lifesaving care by land and air to patients in life-threatening emergencies. Based in Cambridgeshire, their enhanced medical team receives advanced training which allows them to offer procedures and treatments at the scene. They support the ambulance service and give medical care when time is of the essence. This means that the frontline care the team delivers doesn’t just save lives, it helps seriously ill and injured people to return to a good quality of life. Magpas Air Ambulance is not a state-funded service & relies on generous public donations to continue saving lives. Thank you in advance for your generosity. There will be a fund-raising Pamper Afternoon in aid of MAGPAS on Saturday 2nd March at 53 Park Road 2pm – 6pm.

September at St Mary’s

Autumn is almost upon us. As we make the most of the last few weeks of light evenings, we give thanks for the success of our summer activities – Holidays at Home, Pyramid Rock, Getting Active – and we look forward to Heritage Weekends, to Harvest Festival, to the new youth club youth@thetowers. Please pray for the success of all these ventures

St Mary’s chosen charity for September-October is BLOODWISE https://bloodwise.org.uk/  Last year’s appeal proved very successful in raising funds in memory of Diane and Patti . The charity has an aim of creating a future without blood cancer, which sadly was the condition they both succumbed to. Last year Gary Wells completed the Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride, under the Bloodwise banner, which resulted, along with our support, in us being able to present a cheque for £4000 to them. This year he is riding in the London to Paris event, again supporting BLOODWISE. As last year our stand in church will provide updates and further information.

Dusters at the ready! Come and join the cleaning crew
Saturday 1st September (and every 1st Saturday) from 10am
Our recent plea for help with church cleaning has resulted in several initiatives

– brass cleaning has been allocated to specific people / groups
– cleaning prior to weddings/funerals/events. Several people have signed up to help with this and will be called as and when required
