Cambridge Chamber ensemble return to St. Mary’s church Buckden together with David Humphries (Organ) in a concert of varied music including music by Handel and Vivaldi, Schubert, Paganini and Elgar.
Stephen Foster (Violin) the founder and director of the Cambridge Chamber Ensemble played in the National Youth Orchestra and freelanced with the Royal Philharmonic.
Nigel Blomiley (cello) was the principal cello in the BBC Concert Orchestra. For many years he taught at Chethams and th Purcell School and worked as coach to the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.
Jill Moreton (key board) studied at the Guildhall School of Music and was awarded the prestigious Concert Recital diploma (Premier Prix). She has performed in all the major UK concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall. She is currently Head of Music at the Perse Upper School, Cambridge.
Organ music will be played by David Humphries the Assistant Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral. Previously he held a similar role at St. Edmundsbury Cathedral. Increasingly in demand as a recitalist playing recently in Westminster and St. Paul’s Cathedrals. A recent solo CD was released earlier this year. Gramophone hailed it as ‘a disc full of delights’. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Music. He has made many appearances on BBC radio and television.

Concert by the Phoenix Players of St Ives

St Mary’s Church is proud to present the penultimate music concert in the 2014 season…..
The Phoenix Players of St Ives are a quintet who play in a number of local orchestras and meet regularly at The Free Church of St Ives…..we are fortunate that all members are available on the 27th to perform for us works by Stanford, Romberg and Meyerbeer, and also the complete Clarinet Quintet by Weber.

Our next concert, at 7.30pm on Saturday 20th July, will be a real treat. Cambridge Chamber Ensemble will entertain us with a programme of light classical music for a summer’s evening.
The musicians for the night are:

Ervin Nagy – Hungarian pianist and composer – teacher at Liszt Academy in Buda pest – composed many soundtracks for films.
Cellist LINDA LIN is one of the most innovative and exciting musicians of her generation and has been described as having ‘a penchant for flamboyance’. As the winner of the Young Artist of Australia at the age of 15, she made her debut performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the ABC Iwaki Auditorium, which was broadcasted live on 3MBS FM and ABC Classic FM in Australia.
